Role Overview
Reporting to the R&D Project Manager, you’ll work as part of a highly skilled team delivering products for telecom/datacom monitoring, test/measurement, and transport segments. This is a hands-on role for a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative environment and can work with minimal supervision. You’ll be involved in developing new FPGA-centric products alongside VHDL designers.
Key Responsibilities
* Design new electronics from concept through to manufacturing.
* Collaborate with business development to understand requirements for new designs and enhancements.
* Perform schematic capture and PCB layout for new designs.
* Select components considering performance, cost, and availability.
* Verify designs using standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.).
* Participate in peer design reviews within the hardware team.
* Work closely with mechanical, firmware, and software engineers to integrate hardware designs.
* Support operations engineers in releasing design packs to manufacturing.
* Assist in developing production test solutions.
Basic Qualifications
* Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent discipline.
* 5+ years of relevant experience.
* Previous experience designing with Altera or Xilinx FPGAs.
* Ability to comply with UK Government National Security Vetting procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with Cadence Allegro/OrCAD toolset.
* Knowledge of high-speed SERDES interfaces (28G and 56G PAM4).
* Understanding of high-current DC-DC power supply design.
* Experience designing high-speed memory interfaces.
* Familiarity with regulatory qualification (EMC, Safety).
* Background in telecom/datacom hardware products.
