Family Help Worker – to specialise in Domestic Abuse Salary - £36,363 - £40,777 (Grade 6) Hours - 37 hours per week Contact type - 1 Permanent post Location – City Wide Family Hubs Do you want to make a real difference to children and families affected by domestic abuse? We’re looking for a Family Help Worker to join a supportive team dedicated to working in partnership with families affected by domestic abuse, promoting safety, resilience, and positive change through trauma‑informed, strengths‑based support. In this role, you will: Work holistically with children, parents, caregivers, and people who use harmful behaviours, providing practical and emotional support tailored to individual needs. Offer clear guidance to help families understand the dynamics of domestic abuse and reduce the impact of harmful behaviours. Act as an advocate, ensuring individuals are informed about their options and supported to access appropriate services at the right time. Build trusted relationships and provide a safe, supportive, and non‑judgemental environment where people feel able to share their experiences. Contribute meaningfully to positive, sustainable change for individuals and families affected by domestic abuse. What you will be doing: Act as a Lead Practitioner in cases where domestic abuse is present, providing specialist advice, guidance, and professional insight. You will engage in relevant training and proactively share learning to build confidence and capability across the wider workforce. Work holistically with children, young people, and families—including those who may present risk—to strengthen relationships, reduce harm, and support positive, sustained behaviour change. Undertake or contribute to multi‑agency assessments, working collaboratively with partner organisations to identify needs, risks, and appropriate support for children and families. Take a preventative and early‑help approach, engaging families at the earliest opportunity to reduce escalation and improve outcomes. Manage a caseload, delivering individual and group interventions through a flexible, creative, and strengths‑based approach that places children’s safety and wellbeing at the centre of practice. Key Requirements We’re seeking compassionate and committed professionals with the skills and experience to make a meaningful difference for children and families. You will bring: A Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Education, Health, Social Care, Community Development, CACHE (NNEB), BTEC National Diploma in Nursery Nursing, Registered General Nursing (RGN), or a Diploma in Youth and Community Work. English and Maths at Level 2 (or equivalent). Significant post‑qualifying experience in a relevant setting—such as Education, Social Care, or Early Years—supporting children and families through both group and one‑to‑one interventions. Experience working with diverse communities, completing assessments of need, and contributing to community development activities.
