Here’s the role in a nutshell: You’ll lead a team of four buyers — a capable group who’ve been good at the traditional day-to-day but need nurturing, not pushing, to evolve into a more strategic, commercially minded function. Your job is to guide them through that shift. Build trust. Develop confidence. Lead with consistency and care. You’ll also take the reins on supplier strategy — negotiating with UK-based partners (95% domestic) to reduce emissions, improve efficiency, and secure continuity of supply through robust contingency planning. Some travel will be needed (around once a year per supplier), but you'll be based on-site at the HQ in Blackpool. Who you are: You’ve led a supply chain or procurement team before and know how to bring people with you through change. You’re qualified (or part-qualified) through CIPS and well-versed in supplier negotiation, risk planning, and ethical sourcing. You’ve worked with systems and know how to drive efficiency (even if it's not an out-of-the-box ERP). You care about sustainability and want to play a part in shaping a better supply chain — not just a faster one.
