Job Overview
TE Connectivity's Purchasing Teams are responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment and services, gathering quotations, examining bids, and awarding contracts. They perform cost analysis and volume planning for commodities, evaluate vendor reliability, and develop new supply sources where required. They coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and monitor cost, schedule, and scope of subcontracts to ensure quality and value. They also seek and recommend cost-saving proposals including make vs. buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation, as well as develop specifications for new contracts.
Your responsibilities
This role aims to improve current processes and supplier performance while identifying cost-saving opportunities. The candidate should have a flexible approach, support workload management, and be eager to learn and assist other areas of the business.
* The daily operation of the Purchasing function.
* Purchasing a wide range of related materials, components, equipment, and services according to operational procedures and requirements at competitive prices.
* Timely placement of purchase orders and delivery of parts in line with operational needs.
* Securing material delivery by obtaining and providing regular updates from suppliers to ensure on-time delivery, considering manufacturing lead times.
* Maintaining inventory levels within set guidelines.
* Investigating supply chain errors through root cause analysis.
* Assisting the Quality Team with supplier quality issues.
* Creating and updating daily shortage reports.
* Continuously improving purchasing methods to reduce external spend by 4%.
* Developing and implementing policies and procedures for Materials Purchasing.
* Identifying new suppliers, including discount structures and supply agreements.
* Providing high-quality service to internal and external customers.
* Providing clearance information for imports, complying with Customs and Excise regulations.
* Collaborating with other departments as needed.
* Proposing additional training and procedural updates.
* Supporting workload with additional work hours as necessary.
* Performing other duties as directed by the company.
What your background should look like:
Qualifications & specialist training required:
* Knowledge of ERP systems.
* Experience in Purchasing/Sourcing preferred.
* Negotiation skills desirable.
* Experience establishing supplier agreements is a plus.
* Proficiency in computer skills, including email and Microsoft Office.

* Flexibility to work overtime on short notice.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
