At Stamford College, we are looking for a dedicated Lecturer in Skills for Work and Living (SEND) to help our learners achieve their full potential.
As a SEND Lecturer and Course Coordinator, you will deliver engaging, high-quality teaching that supports learners to develop confidence, independence, and essential life and employability skills. You will play a key role in creating a positive, supportive learning environment that enables students to achieve their personal, academic, and progression goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver high-quality teaching and learning to post-16 SEND learners, in line with Professional Teaching Standards
2. Plan and deliver inclusive lessons that meet a wide range of learner needs
3. Coordinate courses, including developing schemes of work, course materials, and group profiles
4. Assess learner work and provide timely, constructive feedback
5. Set SMART targets and monitor learner progress, implementing interventions where required
6. Deliver academic tutorials to support learner progress and achievement
7. Embed English, maths and digital skills across teaching and learning
8. Use ILT effectively to enhance the learning experience
9. Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and assessment
10. Contribute to internal verification and quality assurance processes
11. Support learner recruitment, interviews, enrolment and open events
12. Promote positive behaviour, learner engagement and wellbeing
13. Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and equality and diversity are embedded in all aspects of the role
About You
You will be an enthusiastic and reflective practitioner who is committed to inclusive education and learner success.
Essential requirements:
14. Minimum Level 3/4 qualification (or higher) in a relevant subject area
15. Minimum Level 2 literacy and numeracy
16. Recent experience working in inclusive learning environments
17. Experience teaching or supporting learners, ideally within FE
18. Strong understanding of SEND and inclusive teaching strategies
19. Ability to motivate, inspire and raise aspirations of learners
20. Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills
21. Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion
Desirable:
22. Level 5 teaching qualification (DET, Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent)
23. Experience of course coordination
24. Experience delivering entry-level programmes for learners with SEND (including SEMH, communication, cognition or sensory needs)
25. Assessor and/or Internal Verifier qualifications
26. Experience embedding English and maths into vocational or life skills learning
