Overview
Barts Health NHS Trust is a world-class centre for cardiology medicine and interventional trials. This fixed-term post supports the Cardiology Research Department within the Barts Heart Centre, the largest cardiovascular centre in Europe, with the potential to extend on a rolling basis.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate and support the delivery of cardiovascular clinical trials at Barts Heart Centre and NIHR Barts BRC.
* Provide clinical and research knowledge to the multi-professional team; manage setup, delivery and ongoing governance of cardiovascular CTIMPs/ATIMPs and/or medical devices.
* Work mainly from the Cardiology Research Department with site-based responsibilities as required.
* Provide line management and supervision to the research team; demonstrate strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Qualifications
* Essential: Degree level qualification
* Essential: NMC registration
* Essential: Evidence of continuous personal and professional development
* Essential: GCP qualification
* Essential: Intravenous/Phlebotomy accreditation
* Essential: ILS certification
* Essential: Completed post-registration qualification in specialty or Clinical Research
* Desirable: Working towards a master’s; mentoring/teaching; leadership course or program
Experience
* Essential: 2+ years’ post-registration experience in acute settings at Band 6 or above; experience of managing clinical research workload
* Essential: Experience within a multidisciplinary team including non-NHS organisations; teaching experience
* Essential: Familiarity with establishing Research Pathways and study feasibility; project management
* Desirable: Experience of stem cell clinical research
Knowledge & Skills
* Essential: Knowledge of diagnosis and management of cardiac patients
* Essential: Knowledge of research theory, data handling, and Good Clinical Practice
* Essential: Knowledge of research methodologies and Human Tissue Authority regulations
* Essential: Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to work independently and in a team; IT proficiency
* Desirable: Ability to lead meetings and manage workloads in a multi-professional area
