Job Description:
Data Scientist II, Product Analytics
Are you excited by the opportunity to pioneer the future of travel? Do you want to redefine the way people plan, search for, and book their travel? At Expedia Group, we believe that travel brings the world together, and we are passionate about the endless possibilities.
We are seeking an experienced Product Analyst to join our Product Analytics & Experimentation Team to partner with product managers and focus on user experience optimization.
As a Data Scientist II, you will support critical business decisions throughout the product development lifecycle that improve the user experience for millions of travelers. Your role will involve uncovering customer friction points, hypothesis generation and prioritization, experimentation design, impartial test analysis, and recommendations. If you are a self-starter and have shown success in using analytics to drive innovation and user engagement, this position is for you!
What You'll Do:
* Apply your knowledge with Python, R, or any other major ML programming language
* Write code in a way that enables efficient and accurate translation into a data pipeline
* Conduct hypotheses testing, design and analyze complex A/B tests
* Frame business challenges as an analytics problem and a concrete set of analytical tasks
* Pick analytically valid approaches, appropriate in terms of level of effort, favoring iterative delivery that solves for the objective, not just the ask
* Communicate across various levels of the organization, tailoring your messaging to the audience and filtering relevant information
* Manage stakeholders with frequent communication, expectation management, meeting deadlines, and the backlog
Who You Are:
* 3+ years of experience in data science and analytics, preferably in the ecommerce industry, with at least a Bachelor's in Mathematics, Science, Statistics, or a related technical field; or equivalent professional experience
* Experience with large datasets and proficiency in SQL and another programming language (e.g., R, Python)
* Experience and/or understanding of A/B testing methodologies + familiarity with data exploration and visualization tools like Tableau
* Strong domain knowledge, business acumen, and critical reasoning skills
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to present analysis value clearly and concisely, and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to perform in a high-pressure, dynamic environment and be comfortable with ambiguity
* Curiosity, passion for impact, can-do attitude, and strong attention to detail
