We have an exciting opportunity for a Sous Chef to join our experienced catering team at The Horder Centre, Crowborough. In this role, you’ll assist the Corporate Catering Manager and Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, lead the team in the Head Chef’s absence, and ensure food is prepared and served to the highest standards. You’ll also contribute to menu planning and preparation, bringing fresh ideas and a passion for quality.

What you’ll do
1. Support the Head Chef and Corporate Catering Manager in managing kitchen operations.
2. Lead the kitchen team when the Head Chef is absent.
3. Ensure all food is prepared, presented, and served to high standards.
4. Assist with menu planning and introduce creative ideas aligned with dietary trends.
5. Maintain compliance with food safety regulations and hospital policies.
6. Oversee stock control, ordering, and rotation of supplies.
7. Promote a clean, safe, and hygienic working environment at all times.
About you:
8. City & Guilds 706 Level 2, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent C.I.E.H. Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
9. Prior experience within a fast-paced kitchen environment.
10. Excellent communication skills, to help build those all-important and respected relationships with our patients and your colleagues.
11. Exposure to menu planning, with a keen interest in current food and dietary trends.
12. Proactive and forward thinking, with a passion for continued learning.

Location: The Horder Centre, Crowborough
Contract Type: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Sunday, 5 out of 7 days with shifts ranging from 6.30am to 6.30pm
Salary: up to £26,500 per annum
