Project Engineer – Hitachi Energy Join the Service team in the UK & Ireland and lead the design and delivery of projects in HV, Switchgear & Transformers.
Overview
As a Project Engineer you will coordinate the design of projects delivered within Service, ensuring designs meet customer requirements, are delivered on time, and uphold a high standard of quality.
Responsibilities
* Proactive technical and design management of projects from start to final sign‑off.
* Operate in line with continuous improvement and cost effectiveness throughout the project life cycle.
* Drive customer satisfaction by maintaining high-quality standards in all aspects of service delivery.
* Co‑ordinate and collaborate with all stakeholders, including internal teams and external partners.
* Take the lead in design reviews and project meetings for technical and design aspects.
* Manage customer expectations of the overall service offering, product and portfolio.
* Collaborate with suppliers and sub‑contractors to ensure design quality, resolve issues promptly, and deliver swift resolutions.
* Mark up detailed design drawings and update them as required.
* Provide technical support and advice across the business, including reviewing RAMS, test plans, installation plans and offer documents.
* Conduct site surveys.
* Interpret customer requirements and specifications and apply them to Hitachi Energy’s design deliverables.
* Recognise scope of work, contractual agreements and highlight any scope changes, risks and cost optimisations.
Qualifications & Experience
* Engineering-related HNC/degree (electrical or mechanical desirable but not essential).
* Experience leading the design of engineering projects, preferably within transmission or distribution.
* Strong English communication skills – spoken and written, able to communicate at all levels.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
* Problem‑solving and analytical skills.
* High attention to detail and organisational abilities.
* Team player who is accountable, collaborative and committed to achieving end goals.
* Financial literacy – ability to read financial statements and budget costs.
* Systematic, proactive approach and efficient time management.
