Role and key responsibilities for Revenue Assistant
1. Applying all changes to Council Tax and Business Rates accounts and authorising invoices raised by internal departments
2. Take card payments using industry standard software
3. Maintain an up to date knowledge of Council Tax, Business Rates and Sundry Debt legislation and internal procedures and processes and keep fully appraised of relevant changes
4. Set up direct debits and deal with sensitive financial information in a confidential and secure manner
5. Deal with billing exception reports and rebill accounts as necessary
6. Assess and raise refunds
7. Set up payment arrangements and special payment arrangements in line with our internal processes, completing financial statements where necessary
8. Promote online services to residents and assist them in creating an account and linking
9. this to their Council Tax or Business Rates account
Minimum Requirements for Revenue Assistant
10. Knowledge of the Data Protection Act 8, specifically around GDPR and the impact this has on the Revenues Service
11. Knowledge of Revenues billing and recovery statutory legislation
12. Experience of operating billing, recovery and invoicing systems
13. Excellent organisational skills
14. Ability to work to high degree of accuracy
15. Strong written and verbal communication skills
