Consultant Psychiatrist CAMHS (Visiting Consultant) – Priory Hospital Ticehurst, Priory Hospital Ticehurst, East Sussex, England. Location: Priory Hospital Ticehurst. Employment Type: Contract. This is a self-employed role.
Set within 48 acres of landscaped gardens in a small village in East Sussex, Priory Ticehurst House provides a therapeutic environment. We work with discharge teams to ensure a smooth transition back into community services or to an individual’s home where possible. Our acute services aim to enable more people to be treated closer to home, supporting the NHS to repatriate out-of-area patients back to local areas.
What you'll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team committed to patient wellbeing. You will contribute to a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help patients move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As a Consultant Psychiatrist (Visiting Consultant), you will play a key part in recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, and undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
* Serve as Consultant and Responsible Clinician, leading patient care planning and multidisciplinary collaboration across inpatient and outpatient settings.
* Assess and manage complex cases, chair MDT/CPA meetings, and liaise with patients, families, and external stakeholders.
* Provide clinical leadership alongside the Ward Manager, ensuring compliance with regulatory and organisational standards.
* Contribute to governance and quality improvement through active participation in ward, CAMHS, and service development meetings.
* Engage in academic activities including teaching, case presentations, audit, research, and ongoing professional development.

What you'll bring to the role
Fully registered with the GMC and able to provide evidence of registration when required. Significant experience working within multidisciplinary teams with strong leadership in coordinating care, discharge planning, and liaising with commissioners. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with patients and colleagues. Ability to work autonomously, strong problem-solving skills, and apply evidence-based practice in a patient-centred manner. Participation in a non-residential, second on-call rota is also required.
