We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Enfield to assist with the appointment of a Placements Officer, on a 1.5-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Summary:
The Placements Officer will be part of Enfield Councils Access to Resources Team (ART), responsible for commissioning and arranging high-quality, cost-effective placements for children and young people up to 18 years old. This includes independent fostering, residential care, special needs, and welfare secure placements.
The role requires a proactive professional who can respond quickly to placement needs, ensure safeguarding and confidentiality, and manage relationships with external providers to achieve the best outcomes for Looked After Children (LAC). The successful candidate will have prior experience in placements or commissioning within childrens social care and be able to make placements immediately upon appointment.
Responsibilities:
* Source, assess, and secure appropriate placements for Looked After Children in line with their individual care plans.
* Commission and negotiate placements to achieve best value while meeting childrens needs.
* Maintain accurate records, placement contracts, and provider information systems.
* Advise social workers and managers on suitable placement options, ensuring all placements meet safeguarding and quality standards.
* Build and sustain effective partnerships with external providers, fostering agencies, and residential homes.
Qualifications:
* Educated to A-level standard or equivalent relevant work experience.
Requirements:
* Knowledge of the needs of Looked After Children and the range of placement types available.
* Understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures for children and young people.
* Strong IT literacy and administrative skills, including use of case management systems.
* Ability to manage competing demands and respond effectively to emergency situations.
Experiences:
* Proven experience in a childrens placements or commissioning team.
* Experience of partnership working with statutory agencies and external providers.
* Experience in contract monitoring, negotiation, and performance management.
