Responsibilities
We are looking to recruit a Category Manager for our curriculum portfolio. The Category Manager will have full responsibility for:
* Management of the Sport, Music and Humanities product ranges.
* Research governmental funding and align product campaigns to requirements, working in advance of curriculum delivery to ensure timely surface of ranges at pivotal key times for customers.
* Understanding customer and curriculum needs to source or develop fitting products.
* Building key partnerships at organizational levels or with individual consultants/advisors.
* Reviewing your category and matching products to curriculum needs, identifying gaps versus curriculum.
* Understanding key and niche competitors and their propositions to ensure RMR has impactful, curriculum-rich product ranges.
* Understanding customer needs to source from third-party suppliers or articulate concepts to the NPD team with full commercial viability.
* Identifying when a product requires curricular content enrichment to maximize selling potential.
* Collaborating globally with the International team on curriculum requirements.
* Supporting commercial teams by articulating product differentiation aligned with teaching methods and ethos across Primary and Early Years.
* Communicating with Marketing and Digital teams to plan promotional campaigns based on customer needs and timings.
* Developing and maintaining relationships with industry experts, educationalists, and nursery care providers to support product development and strategy.
* Working closely with Procurement to ensure product availability, especially on key products and kits.
* Managing product lifecycle from concept to end-of-life, ensuring robust launch, sales, and exit strategies to optimize sales and margins while supporting inventory targets.
Experience
* Full understanding of curriculum requirements, learning outcomes, and governmental guidance to support education system needs.
* Understanding market lifecycles and peak trading periods to fulfill customer needs and leverage resource ranges to meet revenue targets.
* Producing and analyzing management reports relevant to the division.
* Building long-lasting relationships with education experts, advisors, teachers, practitioners, and educationalists.
* Experience in managing curriculum-focused events and exhibitions to demonstrate solutions and learning outcomes, capturing ideas for NPD.
* Collaborating with NPD to develop resources aligned with curriculum and learning outcomes from EY to junior education.
* Developing commercially sound curriculum product ranges with accountability for assortment planning, pricing, positioning, timing, and execution, in partnership with Procurement, Marketing, and Digital teams.
* Maintaining knowledge of government educational policies, funding, pedagogical best practices, and strategic priorities to support content development.
