The children at our residential children's home in Eastbourne live with autism, ADHD, epilepsy, severe learning disabilities, and very limited verbal communication. Some are non-verbal, while others use PECS and Makaton to express themselves. They need help with all personal care, medication, routines, and encouragement to take part in play and activities. At times, they present behaviours like biting, hair pulling, inappropriate touch, or self-harm, and they need calm, consistent staff to guide them through. As Day Team Leader, you'll coordinate your team, keeping routines consistent and staff supported while still providing direct care yourself. What You'll Do: Your role will combine frontline care with leadership: Lead day shifts and ensure staff deliver consistent care. Support young people with epilepsy, personal care, and communication difficulties. Model calm, safe responses to challenging behaviours. Ensure the use of PECS, Makaton, and visuals is consistent across the team. Supervise and mentor Day Coaches and Seniors. Maintain detailed records and communicate with managers. Drive young people in and out of the community for activities and appointments. What We're Looking For: We're looking for leaders who can balance empathy with authority: Strong experience with autism, epilepsy, and severe learning disabilities. Skilled in PBS, sensory regulation, and non-verbal communication. Confident in leading staff through incidents and supporting routines. Resilient when faced with self-harm or challenging behaviours. Physically fit, proactive, and reliable. Patient and trauma-informed. Must hold a full and clean UK driving licence. Benefits Working at SuperCare: We'll back your leadership with excellent training and rewards: Salary 20% above sector norms. 36 days of advanced training annually. Fully funded Level 3 Diploma (if not already held). Private healthcare and 24/7 GP access. Gym stipend and wellbeing support. Pension and bonus scheme. Free parking and communal cars to transport young people in and out of the community. Clear progression into Deputy Manager roles.
