Offer description

Edinburgh Napier University strives to deliver the best teaching, to the widest range of students who can benefit from it and Philanthropic support enables students to access higher education and enhance their studies.

Our Development Office partners with diverse funding sources to achieve this and central to our mission are Edinburgh Napier alumni, our most valuable supporters. Alumni Relations nurtures lasting connections with graduates and positions them as engaged donors.

As such, we are currently recruiting a Database & Operations Officer to oversee management of our Development and Alumni Relations database and play a crucial role in the department’s mission to secure long‑term support for educational, research, and student‑focused initiatives.

The Role

As Database & Operations Officer, you will have an excellent opportunity to use your experience of database management (in particular The Raiser's Edge) to take day‑to‑day responsibility for the accurate processing and recording of all fundraised income generated by the team.

Your proactive nature and high attention to detail will be well utilised here, as you oversee the integrity of the department’s database, ensuring that all data relating to supporters, alumni and departmental contacts is accurate, current and purpose‑driven.

Your organisational input will also be crucial, as you maintain organised, secure and accessible records of all fundraising documentation which will be essential to maintaining Gift Agreements, Gift Aid Declarations and payment schedules.

Further to this, your management and understanding of these records will allow you to get involved in the strategic side of our operation, by identifying potential philanthropic and alumni prospects through analysis of the data held within our systems.

There will also be some more general duties, as we appreciate that you will have a lot to offer in terms of administrative skills. This will see you managing the team’s email inbox; working closely with Events colleagues to support the planning and delivery of University, Development, and Alumni events and generally providing proactive support and assistance to colleagues across the Marketing & External Relations Directorate as required.

If you have experience using Raiser’s Edge (or similar relational database) and the administrative organisational skills to become a trusted and highly valued member of our Development Team, then we would love to hear from you.

What we will need from you

* A degree or equivalent professional experience demonstrating success in delivering a similar role to this post
* Professional experience of working with The Raiser's Edge or similar Development focussed CRM software
* Confidence in using of Microsoft Office 365 products - specifically Word, Excel, SharePoint and Outlook
* A great working knowledge of data protection legislation (GDPR) and best practices to ensure data quality and compliance
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels

Benefits we offer

41 days annual leave, generous pension scheme (17.6%), flexible working and professional development opportunities. Our benefits can be viewed here.
