Overview
A vacancy has arisen in our busy GP practice in the market town of March, Cambs for a part-time Healthcare Assistant. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our friendly team. We pride ourselves on teamwork and offer a high standard of support and guidance to all our staff. The successful candidate will provide support to our Clinical Team, assisting with a wide range of patient care and clinical duties. Applicants will need to be flexible, reliable, and have excellent organisational and communication skills.
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will undertake delegated clinical and administrative duties under indirect supervision. You will be an important member of the practice team, working within clear parameters and after appropriate training and competency assessment.
Key Responsibilities
* Administering selected vaccines in line with the national schedule and legal authorisation
* Administering medications by injection (with appropriate authorisation)
* Undertaking NHS Health Checks
* Chaperoning and assisting patients during examinations
* Processing and managing laboratory samples
* Maintaining and cleaning clinical equipment and treatment rooms
* Accurate clinical record keeping using SystmOne and Ardens templates
* Supporting administrative systems in the practice
* Signposting patients to relevant services or organisations
* Attending practice meetings and completing mandatory training
About Us
Mercheford House Surgery is a well-established, forward-thinking GP practice caring for approximately 6,900 patients. We are a small and friendly team based in March, 25 miles from Peterborough and 35 miles from Cambridge, and operate as a GMS practice.
Our team includes 2 GP Partners, 3 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 2 Practice Nurses, and 2 Healthcare Assistants, supported by an experienced administrative and operational team. We work closely with the Fenland PCN, which provides access to additional services including GP, paramedics, pharmacists, social prescribers, and care co-ordinators. We use SystmOne, AccuRx, and Doctorlink, and have been rated Good by the CQC.

About You
We are looking for someone who is professional, compassionate, and committed to providing excellent patient care.
* Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant (general practice, hospital or community setting)
* Competence in phlebotomy
* English and Maths GCSE grade C/4 or above
* Basic IT skills
