Test and Commissioning Manager

Up to £75k + Vehicle + Benefits | 37.5 hrs
We're seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead all testing, commissioning, and quality assurance for advanced electromechanical equipment.
This role combines technical leadership, operational oversight, and customer‑facing responsibilities. While primarily with the manufacturing facility they will also support field service operations, ensuring successful site acceptance, customer training, and high‑level troubleshooting when required.
The ideal candidate will drive continuous improvement across testing processes, mentor and develop test engineers, and act as a key technical authority for both internal teams and customers.
Responsibilities
Lead and develop the Test & Commissioning team
Own FAT/SAT processes and all in‑house test activities
Approve test documentation, results, and release for dispatch
Support field commissioning, complex breakdowns, and customer escalations
Provide expert technical input to Engineering, Production, and Service
Drive continuous improvement in testing, build quality, and procedures
Requirements
Previous technical management experience within special purpose machinery or similar
Electromechanical qualification (City & Guilds or equivalent)
Hands on experience in testing, commissioning & troubleshooting complex machinery
Ability to read interpret engineering drawings & electrical schematics
PLC/HMI experience essential
Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical assembly quality
Proven leadership and mentoring capability
Desirable Experience
Robot control programming
Continuous improvement / quality management
Developing test procedures or commissioning frameworks
