What you’ll be doing
as a Transport Manager
1. You will be a single point of contact for our operational business which operates 365 days throughout the year to provide an excellent service.
2. Developing and implementing a Service Level Agreement to ensure ongoing validity and continuous improvement.
3. Developing systems of work to deliver a compliant, cost-effective and consistent service.
4. Monitoring and managing performance against compliance standards and operational targets, implementing action plans to mitigate any risks arising.
5. Providing performance reporting, to provide an overview of performance against service levels, compliance, complaints, targets, etc.
6. Effectively resourcing and planning to enable the delivery of both planned and reactive work.
7. Maintaining adequate and effective resources and optimising fleet availability.
8. Leading and supporting the compliance of the Operator’s Licence through effective infringement control, driver training and development. Keeping the Fleet Manager informed of any infringements notifiable to the Traffic Commissioner promptly and in line with ‘O’ licence requirements.
9. Ensuring vehicle and people standards are understood and embedded across the team.
10. Working with the Fleet management team to ensure that vehicle and driver incidents are investigated.
11. Investigating any driver complaints and delivery failures.
12. Managing staff and vehicle operating costs in line with budget.
Location – White Waltham, Maidenhead
What you should bring to the role
To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need are:
13. CPC National licence – Preferable.
14. Knowledge of Operator Licence compliances, Transport law and the Road Traffic Act.
15. Previous experience in managing drivers and their performance.
16. Good knowledge of transport and compliance management.
17. Strong understanding of operational Health & Safety.
18. Ability to build strong foundations, supported by effective systems and processes.
19. Excellent communicator who uses a collaborative approach and uses their initiative.
20. Good analytical, problem solving and numerical skills.
