An innovative international diagnostics organisation is establishing a state-of-the-art digital histopathology laboratory in the UK, following the success of its first automated lab in Scandinavia. As part of this exciting expansion, we are seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager to lead operations, people, and workflow in the new Oxfordshire - based facility.

The Opportunity
As Laboratory Manager, you will take full responsibility for the operational running of a cutting-edge digital histopathology lab. You’ll oversee a multidisciplinary team -including biomedical scientists, pathologists (employed and consultant), and support personnel - while ensuring smooth production, quality compliance, and continuous improvement.
This role suits someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys building strong processes, and wants to contribute to the development of an advanced, lean, and next-generation diagnostic service.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations within a digital histopathology setting.
* Lead, mentor and support laboratory staff, including scientific teams and technical support functions.
* Maintain efficient workflow, turnaround times, and high-quality standards.
* Manage procurement and stock of consumables, reagents, and laboratory equipment.
* Collaborate closely with senior leadership on budgeting, production costs, and supplier performance.
* Ensure the laboratory operates in line with ISO-accredited quality systems and internal processes.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote best practice.
* Contribute to documentation, reporting, and development of organisational knowledge.
* Provide hands-on histopathology support when required.
About You
We are looking for someone who brings:
* Previous leadership experience (Team Lead, Senior BMS, Lab Manager or similar).
* Background in histopathology and/or significant medical laboratory experience.
* A degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent (HCPC registration preferred).
* Experience working within ISO-accredited, regulated laboratory environments.
* A collaborative, inclusive approach with the ability to foster a non-hierarchical culture.
* Flexibility, curiosity, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
