We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Conference and Operations Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality events at our client’s dynamic venue. They will oversee all operational aspects of conferences and banqueting, manage and inspire a dedicated team, and ensure everything runs exceptionally.
The Role
1. Responsibility for event logistics, inventory and supplier management, and acting as Duty Manager when needed. Supporting service excellence and growth of our hospitality offering.
2. Lead, motivate, and support the conference and banqueting team to deliver outstanding events and guest experiences, maintaining a 5-star service standard.
3. Oversee the day-to-day operations of events including setup, execution, and breakdown, ensuring all client requirements are met.
4. Delegate tasks effectively to supervisors and team members for smooth event delivery.
5. Ensure compliance with legal and operational standards, including food hygiene, COSHH, health and safety, and alcohol licensing. Keep training records updated.
6. Manage administrative functions such as staffing schedules, financial reporting, stock control, and procurement.
7. Maintain staffing levels for efficient event delivery and operational needs.
8. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, partners, and internal teams for high-quality service.
9. Monitor departmental costs, including labour, stock, and equipment, ensuring budgets and financial targets are met.
10. Order supplies and provisions timely and accurately to meet event specifications.
11. Conduct operational audits to ensure adherence to procedures and legal compliance.
12. Contribute to departmental KPIs and support strategic growth.
13. Collaborate with wider events and catering teams for seamless service delivery.
14. Hold and ensure adherence to the Premises Licence and licensing laws.
15. Work with the Head of Hospitality to explore partnership and product development opportunities.
16. Act as Duty Manager as required, supporting venue operations and reputation.
17. Perform additional duties necessary for department effectiveness.
