Flood Management and Project Officer, Chester
Cheshire West and Chester Council is seeking a Flood Management and Project Officer to join our Flood Risk Management team at the Guilden Sutton Highways Depot near Chester.
This role, within the Council's Transport and Highways Service, involves providing technical expertise and supporting the responsibilities of the Lead Local Flood Authority to mitigate flood risks and ensure statutory compliance, aligning with the Council's corporate objectives.
We offer a permanent position to contribute to flood risk reduction efforts for residents, businesses, and infrastructure in the borough. Key responsibilities include:
1. Conducting site investigations, feasibility studies, and preparing technical reports with recommendations on flood risk management.
2. Collaborating with local authorities and external agencies to incorporate diverse perspectives in flood risk strategies.
3. Preparing funding proposals to maximize grants and funding streams for flood defense projects.
4. Leading the development of an asset management register for drainage, SuDS, and flood assets.
5. Managing land drainage consent applications and maintaining related records.
6. Supporting planning consultations and advising on flood risks associated with new developments.
