Offer description

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks at our visitor center in Portree and occasionally at our other sites across Scotland. This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently, has a trade behind them or is very good at DIY, has a valid driver's license, and is comfortable handling both indoor and outdoor maintenance duties.

Key Responsibilities

* Perform general maintenance and repair tasks at the Portree visitor center
* Maintain the exterior grounds of the visitor center, including landscaping, cleaning, and minor repairs to pathways, fences, or signage.
* Conduct routine inspections to identify and address maintenance issues promptly.
* Assist with maintenance tasks at our other shops sites, our Broadford restaurant and some trade fairs
* Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, adhering to health and safety regulations.
* Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies, ensuring they are in good working condition.
* Respond to emergency maintenance requests in a timely manner.
* Collaborate with the team to support special events or projects at the visitor center or other sites.

Requirements

* Proven experience in general maintenance, repairs, or a related field (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrical work).
* Valid UK driver's license and willingness to travel to various Skye Candles sites across Scotland(infrequently).
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
* Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, climbing, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
* Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations.
* Time management and organisational skills.
* Friendly and professional demeanour, with the ability to interact positively with colleagues and visitors.
* Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for emergency repairs or special events.

Pay: £12.60-£14.50 per hour
