Location: 303 Long Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk, NR33 9DF. Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Part-time. Salary: Depending on experience.
Job Summary
We are recruiting for a Practice Nurse to join our friendly team at Andaman Surgery. This post has become available due to the retirement of one of our practice nurses. You should have experience working in General Practice.
Role / Responsibilities
* Seeing patients face to face, providing clinical assessment and care.
* Provide clinical reviews.
* Work with other healthcare professionals and be part of a small, friendly team.
* Communicate effectively.
* Maintain accurate contemporaneous computerised clinical records of every contact using templates for NICE guidelines and prescribing information, including history, examination, plan of care, advice given, and recommended follow-up. This includes documenting adverse events, safeguarding child or vulnerable adult issues, or other notifiable matters.
* See patients face to face for known long-term conditions including diabetes, COPD, asthma, and hypertension. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual treatment plans. Perform a holistic assessment of patients attending for cervical cytology smear tests.
* Provide wound management in line with current evidence-based guidelines; include wound care, suture removal, and proactive management of long-term condition risks. Work with other health care professionals to monitor, manage, treat long-term conditions, refer as needed, and support non-drug-based treatment methods within local policies.
* Promote adherence to prescribed treatments; work within patient group directions/patient-specific directions in collaboration with GPs and other primary care nurses. Support patients in adopting health promotion strategies and self-care.
* Understand and apply legal policy for identifying vulnerable and abused children and adults; be aware of statutory procedures and local guidance. Work within the Care Quality Commission and National Quality Requirements performance framework. Continue personal professional development and contribute to service development as a learning organisation.
* Maintain awareness of infection control standards and professional requirements to work within good practice guidelines.
* Communicate effectively across teams using face-to-face and online consultations; liaise with nursing colleagues and other professionals. Be flexible to meet clinical and operational needs and maintain personal and professional development records.
Person Specification
Experience
Essential
* Experience of working in General Practice as a Practice Nurse.
* Knowledge of using SystmOne (clinical system).
Desirable
* Knowledge of using Clinical Templates.
* Knowledge of Long-Term condition reviews.
Qualifications
Essential
* Recognised NMC Registration – PIN.
* Experience in Long-Term condition management and wound care.
Desirable
* Cervical Screening.
* Spirometry Qualification (ARTP).
* LARC qualification.
