ENGINEERING LEAD

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to drive the direction, scalability, and operational excellence of globally distributed engineering teams across the UK, Poland, and India.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Delivery
1. Provide leadership across multi-region engineering teams (UK, Poland, India)
2. Support team managers with:Project demand planningCapacity and resource managementDelivery prioritisation and oversightAct as a senior escalation point for engineering and operational issuesEnsure alignment between engineering output and business priorities
Engineering & Platform Oversight
3. Lead strategic upgrades and transformation initiatives, including:Control-M platform upgradesManaged File Transfer (MFT) upgrades and modernisation
4. Oversee the stability, resilience, and performance of critical banking platforms
5. Support large-scale initiatives such as data centre migrations
6. Ensure platforms evolve in line with enterprise and regulatory requirements
Operational Excellence
7. Ensure systems operate securely, reliably, and in line with banking standards
8. Balance “run the bank” activity with ongoing transformation and delivery
9. Drive continuous improvement through:
10. Automation
11. Standardisation
12. Process optimisation
Automation & Technology
13. Encourage adoption of modern engineering and DevOps practices
14. Promote the use of automation tools and open-source technologies
15. Work with technologies including:AnsibleOpen-source toolingDevOps-style operating models
Skills & Experience:
Essential
16. Strong engineering background (infrastructure, platform engineering, Control-M, or MFT environments)
17. Proven Experience leading large, globally distributed engineering teams
18. Demonstrable people leadership and stakeholder management skills
19. Experience managing complex enterprise platforms within regulated environments ( financial services)
20. Comfortable operating at a senior level
21. Strong understanding of open-source technologies and modern engineering practices
Desirable
22. Experience with:
23. Control-M environments
24. Managed File Transfer (MFT) platforms
25. Ansible or similar automation tools
26. Open-source ecosystems
27. background in financial services or large-scale enterprise organisations
