We are looking to appoint a Clinical Fellow in Palliative Medicine to join our established medical team at Moya Cole Hospice, providing excellent medical care to those living with or affected by life-limiting illness. This post is primarily based at Little Hulton, with some cross-site working as required.

The successful candidate will be subject to a DBS Check at the level appropriate to the role, the cost of which is covered by the hospice. Any post holder within the organisation will be expected to undertake safeguarding training appropriate to their role and adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures. All staff must work in accordance with their statutory roles and responsibilities in relation to safeguarding in accordance with the Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023, The Care Act 2014, and Prevent Duty 2015.

Main duties of the job

We have an established medical team with links to Salford Royal, Manchester, and Stockport Foundation Trusts. We provide medical care to the 18 beds at Heald Green and 18 beds at Little Hulton but also support the Being You Centre, Outpatient Services and a 24-hour advice line.

We are developing our medical workforce to meet the demands of a modern specialist palliative care unit and have an exciting opportunity to appoint to a Clinical Fellow post across the organisation.

This post will play an integral role in delivering holistic care to our patients on the inpatient unit and supporting in audit and quality improvement activities.

This post is primarily based at the Little Hulton site. There may be occasions where you are required to work cross-site.

Job responsibilities

You will play an integral role in delivering holistic medical care to our patients, working closely with consultants and the multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities include:

* Assisting in the daily review and medical management of patients on the inpatient unit
* Undertaking initial and ongoing assessments using the electronic patient record with senior support
* Participating in consultant led ward rounds and the on call rota (1 in 5)
* Supporting medical input to the Being You Centre and 24 hour advice line as required
* Participating in education, audit, quality improvement and research activities


Person Specification


Experience

* Have a minimum of 2 years experience since qualifying / graduation (or equivalent experience demonstrating the required level of competence)
* Demonstrate acquisition of the level of knowledge and skills necessary for the completion of F2 within 2 years of intended start date
* Have a breadth of clinical experience (e.g. oncology, elderly care, general medical specialties)
* Have multidisciplinary team working skills, a specific interest in palliative medicine and a desire to develop skills further
* Evidence of personal involvement in audit, research or QI activity
* Evidence of participation in teaching undergraduates and other healthcare professionals


Qualifications

* Fully registered with the GMC
* Demonstrate the Right to Work in the UK without sponsorship
* Have an MBBS or equivalent qualification

£45,995 a year plus 4% on-call payment per annum
