Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to join our dynamic culinary team. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment, supporting chefs and kitchen staff to deliver exceptional service. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, cleaning, and general kitchen duties, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and safety are upheld at all times. Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting is advantageous but not mandatory; a positive attitude and willingness to learn are equally valued.
Responsibilities
* Assist with basic food preparation tasks under the supervision of the chef or kitchen manager
* Support with cooking activities as required, including preparing ingredients and assembling dishes
* Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including washing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans
* Ensure all work surfaces are sanitised and organised according to health and safety standards
* Help with stock rotation and storage of ingredients and supplies
* Support the serving team during busy periods by providing necessary assistance
* Follow all hygiene protocols and health & safety regulations diligently
* Assist with waste disposal and ensure the kitchen remains tidy throughout shifts
Requirements
* Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
* Knowledge of kitchen operations within restaurants or hotels is advantageous
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
* Good organisational skills and a proactive approach to tasks
* Willingness to learn new skills and work as part of a team
* Flexibility to work shifts as required, including evenings and weekends if necessary
* A positive attitude with a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From £13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
