Residential Classroom Assistant
We are seeking a caring, resilient, and adaptable Residential Classroom Assistant to support children and young people with a range of needs, including those in care and with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
In this unique role, you will work across both classroom and residential settings, helping pupils engage in learning during the day and supporting them in developing life skills, routines, and positive relationships outside of school hours.
Flexibility is essential, as you may be required to work at different sites and adjust your schedule to meet the needs of the children.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support pupils with learning activities, emotional regulation, and social skills in the classroom
2. Assist with daily living skills and residential routines (mealtimes, activities, bedtime)
3. Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people
4. Promote independence, resilience, and confidence
5. Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team including teachers, carers, and therapists
6. Ensure a safe, structured, and nurturing environment both in class and residential settings
Requirements
7. Experience working with children/young people with diverse needs (including children in care)
8. Understanding of trauma-informed practice and behaviour support strategies (training can be provided)
9. Flexible approach to working hours and locations
10. Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
11. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
