Sterile Services Technician (Entry level)

What You Will Do
* Follow a highly regulated end‑to‑end sterilisation/decontamination process on surgical instruments that have been used in operations in local NHS and private hospitals, ensuring they can be used again safely for the next patient.
* Ensure the effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, surgical instruments, and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection, assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
* Rigorously check, wash, lay up and pack sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
* Safely operate and monitor machines and equipment (washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilisers) effectively.
* Ensure that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).
* Ensure that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust’s appointed person.
Working Pattern
12‑week training, the first few weeks will be Monday‑Friday 10:00‑18:00. Thereafter, training will continue during regular shift hours Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 16:00‑05:00 (37.5 hours) – 30 min unpaid break.

Completed on‑the‑job, you are given 20 % of your working hours to study towards the qualification. Further apprenticeships available throughout the course of your career.
Required Experience
Educated on general standard with demonstrable verbal and numerical abilities. Basic end‑user IT skills to operate track and traceability IT systems. Whether you have no experience whatsoever, or you have previously worked in the healthcare industry, we want to hear from you!
