Your new company
An established charitable organisation is seeking to appoint a Historic Buildings Officer to provide specialist support for the care, maintenance and long-term sustainability of historic and listed buildings within their portfolio. The portfolio consists of a variety of buildings, many of which are listed and of significant architectural and historic importance. The postholder will work closely with internal teams, community stakeholders and national heritage bodies to safeguard and enhance these important assets.
Your new role
The Historic Buildings Officer role will support internal stakeholders with the maintenance and sustainable development of historic buildings within the portfolio, with a particular focus on those classified as high risk. The role includes assessing building condition through site visits and reports, developing statements of significance and action plans, and helping prioritise and deliver repair and restoration projects. The role will also identify and secure external funding by supporting grant applications and building partnerships.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful for this role, you should have a degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field such as heritage management, conservation, architecture, archaeology or similar. You should have strong knowledge of historic building conservation, maintenance and repair and proven experience of delivering practical advice and developing actionable plans. Experience of securing grant funding and developing funding applications is required. A driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes is required for this role.
