Position Purpose
To assist in the day‑to‑day operation of the plant for the receipt, treatment and disposal of clinical waste, so as to achieve maximum plant availability and productivity in accordance with company operational procedures and legislative obligations or requirements.
Key Job Activities
* Unload vehicles and trailers (site specific).
* Effectively maneuver waste on the plant and weigh containers.
* Ensure waste containers are emptied, cleaned thoroughly and ready in a suitable ‘empty’ storage area for collection.
* Coordinate paperwork and reception of all deliveries to the plant, including suppliers and contractors.
* Oversee safe handling into containers by the respective deliverer, including loose waste delivered to the site.
* Operate forklift truck if required.
* Participate in plant shutdowns as necessary.
* Maintain company operational records and data specific to the job function.
* Report major defects, concerns or problems to management before actioning.
* Work under the directions of and assist the Shift Supervisor and Plant Manager in his or her duties in case of breakdown or controlled stoppage.
* Observe and comply with all safety notices and signs and ensure all work is carried out safely.
* Attend training courses or instruction specific to the job as required.
* Perform additional duties as necessary to ensure safe compliance and continuation of operations of the plant.
* Comply with company health & safety procedures.
Education & Experience
Education: Self‑motivated, reliable and enthusiastic. A team player, well able to work effectively under pressure and who is looking for a challenge. Good health record. Able to work on own initiative. Punctual. Demonstrate a flexible approach to hours including shift work.
