About Hartmore School

Many of our learners join us following disrupted or challenging educational journeys. The Role: Experienced Secondary Class Teacher (Not suitable for ECTs)
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and skilled secondary teacher to teach in our girls’ provision in Stroud Road, Gloucester. You will lead small classes and teach one-to-one with pupils with SEMH needs between the ages of 11 and 18, who are no longer able to attend mainstream school. You will teach the girls with a bespoke academic and creative curriculum and play a vital pastoral role in helping the pupils grow socially, emotionally and academically supported by experienced teaching assistants and a supportive leadership team.
Some of the pupils you will be working with will be working at below age related expectations and require a highly nurturing, adaptive approach.
You will play an active role in whole school development, providing leadership in areas such as subject planning and preparing the girls to sit formal examinations.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
•Teach across the curriculum creating bespoke and creative learning journeys.
•Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with SEMH needs.
•Prepare pupils for Functional Skills, Foundation Levels and GCSE examinations.
•Build positive, relational learning environments using trauma informed approaches.
•Create and maintain a positive, structured and trauma-informed classroom environment.
•Track progress, assess learning and contribute to the review processes.
Subject Leadership
•Lead whole school development in a specialist subject area.
•Review schemes of work, monitor standards, and support colleagues.
Pastoral Care
•Provide daily pastoral oversight for your student group.
•Support wellbeing, behaviour, transitions, and future pathways including post 16 opportunities.
Essential Experience & Qualities
•QTS and completion of the 2 year ECT induction
•Minimum of 3 years’ post qualification experience
•Ability to teach across the curriculum
•Strong safeguarding knowledge
•Excellent communication and organisational skills
•A commitment to collaboration and professional growth
•Full manual driving license
Desirable Experience & Qualities
•Experience in an SEMH/SEND setting and trauma informed practice
•Experience in curriculum leadership.
