Axon Moore are excited to be supporting a well‑established business in Preston to recruit a new Finance Manager. This role is paying a competitive salary of up to £65,000 with a flexible hybrid working arrangement on offer.
Job Purpose
Responsible for the timely and accurate production of monthly management accounts, including all supporting schedules, reconciliations, and statutory submissions. The role also supports quarterly reporting requirements and the year‑end audit process.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare monthly management accounts within strict deadlines, including accruals, prepayments, and detailed variance analysis against budget and forecast
* Review financial performance and investigate significant variances, providing clear commentary and insight
* Complete and review balance sheet reconciliations in line with reporting timetables, ensuring any discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly
* Maintain oversight of aged debtor and creditor balances, ensuring regular reviews and timely resolution of outstanding items
* Support the preparation of comprehensive management reporting packs
* Identify financial risks and opportunities within the P&L and balance sheet that may impact forecasts
* Liaise with internal and external auditors, providing accurate and timely information to support audit processes
* Ensure queries are resolved efficiently and to a high standard
* Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements where appropriateContribute to ad hoc projects and continuous improvement initiatives
* Oversee the preparation of indirect tax and other regulatory returns
* Manage intercompany reconciliations and settlements
Accountabilities
* Production and review of monthly financial statements (P&L and balance sheet)
* Completion and review of balance sheet reconciliations
* Analysis of costs and investigation of variances to budget and forecast
* Support the budgeting and forecasting process as required
* Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts and tax‑related schedules
* Deliver ad hoc financial analysis to support business decision‑making
* Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders
* Communicate effectively within the finance team and contribute to process improvements
Qualifications & Experience
* Professionally qualified (e.g., CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
* Proven experience within a fast‑paced finance environment
* Strong track record of producing accurate management accounts to tight deadlines
* Experience operating in a dynamic and evolving environment

* Experience in a high‑volume or multi‑entity environment
* Exposure to team support or development responsibilities
