Working with key stakeholders and a professional Digital Services team you will ensure efficient, consistent, and effective resolution of engineering challenges and help create a first‑class data platform for data practitioners across Homes England.
As a Data Engineer you will play a critical role in the development of our Azure Data Platform. You will be helping to grow our team of talented data professionals, who are committed to making Homes England a data‑led organisation. To deliver this you will be using the latest tools and technologies such as Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure DevOps and Terraform alongside languages such as Python, PySpark and SQL. Deploying pipelines through CI/CD practices. You will work with data, digital and technology colleagues collaboratively, taking an innovative and creative approach to deliver key strategic projects around automated analytics and reporting.

Responsibilities
* You are resilient and comfortable managing and communicating with stakeholders across the business. Your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as an engineering team. You enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way while delivering high quality solutions.
* You will be able to design and deliver pipelines to copy data from various sources, transform this data based on the requirements of the analysis and business teams and present this data in an accessible and consistent way.
* To deliver this you will have preferably worked with cloud technologies and have a good level of coding skills (preferably Python, PySpark and SQL). Solutions you deliver should be reusable and scalable with a focus on consistency and maintainability.
* You will be able to review existing processes and improve them while thinking about better cost efficiency and performance. As part of this you should have a desire to learn and explore new technologies.
* As an experienced data professional, you’ll understand how to manage relationships with colleagues and be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way.
Person specification
* Experience of delivering data solutions using cloud technologies (preferably Azure)
* Experience of coding and automating data pipelines using languages such as Python, PySpark and SQL
* Experience of working with large and complex data environments
* Evidence of adaptability with the ability to learn new technologies and methodologies
* Experience developing and maintaining effective working relationships with technical and non‑specialist colleagues
* Experience of translating business problems into technical solutions
* Experience in a role that includes problem solving, analytical and logical skills
