Location: Coleraine, Northern Ireland
Salary: GBP19.74 – GBP21.65 per hour
Hours: 37 hrs per week
Pay: 1–12 weeks £19.74, 13 weeks + £21.65

Key Responsibilities
* Manage the day-to-day delivery of an effective Corporate Communications and Public Relations service across a range of Council services to ensure the coordinated provision of a modern and responsive service.
* Act as Senior Responsible Officer in relation to Corporate Communications and Public Relations service area on a number of project groups as and when required.
* Provide advice and support to the Chief Executive, Senior Management Team and Heads of Service in the provision of expert advice, with an understanding of the political and sensitive context, and to the Mayor and other elected representatives as appropriate and when required.
* Maintain effective working relationships with key external stakeholders, ministerial, parliamentary or Assembly departments and a variety of other public, community and voluntary sector bodies.
* Deputise for the Democratic and Central Services Manager in relation to Corporate Communications and Public Relations activities as appropriate and when required.
* Ensure departmental compliance of statutory legislation and work in accordance with good governance practices.
* Ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely and effective manner and that general confidentiality is maintained in all areas relating to the work of the Council.
Qualifications
* A Level five qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., Communications, Marketing, English or equivalent).
* A minimum of two years’ experience working in the field of Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or Media, including:
o Design and preparation of public relations or media plans;
o Copy‑writing and preparing press releases.
* Alternatively, consideration will be given to applicants who do not possess the required educational qualification outlined above but who can demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have at least four years’ experience in the areas outlined above.
* Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
* A clear understanding of the workings of local government and the wider environment in which it operates.
