Product Owner - 12 month FTC
We have been retained to appoint a Product Owner for a scaling technology business at the forefront of retail process simplification.
The Role
This is an opportunity to shape and deliver new technology solutions in a business that thrives on innovation, agility, and commercial impact.
You'll take ownership of the product backlog, translating business needs and customer priorities into clear, outcome-driven deliverables. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you'll define success measures, facilitate structured decision-making, and oversee timely, value-focused delivery.
This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-moving SME environment, where adaptability, clarity, and focus on value are essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring clarity, alignment, and readiness.
* Translate requirements into user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
* Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to prioritise work effectively.
* Facilitate planning and sizing sessions with the development team.
* Monitor delivery progress, proactively manage risks, and communicate with stakeholders.
* Enable pragmatic Agile delivery in a scaling environment.
About You
You'll bring:
* 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner or in a similar product/delivery role.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Excellent communication skills to influence and align technical and commercial stakeholders.
* Proven ability to break down complex problems and define actionable outcomes.
* A proactive, adaptable mindset with strong commercial awareness.
* Experience in Agile delivery environments and familiarity with tools such as Azure DevOps (or similar).
It would be an advantage if you have:
* Experience within grocery retail, FMCG, or other fast-paced sectors.
* Exposure to UX/UI principles.
* Experience collaborating with nearshore/offshore partners.
Practical Details
* Location: Based near Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire.
* Hybrid: Office days are Tuesday and Thursday; flexibility to work remotely on other days.
* Requirement: You must be a car owner and driver due to the semi-rural office location.
* Eligibility: Candidates must have the permanent right to work in the UK without restriction.
