About the Role
As a Lead EM Materials and Apertures Scientist, you will develop expertise in applying Electromagnetic principles to the design and integration of sensors for low observable and airborne platforms. You will work with a team of technical experts in antenna design, mechanical engineering, and material science, involved in various stages from concept to hardware development and testing. This role offers the opportunity to grow your career in a leading technology environment, working on innovative projects and technologies.
Depending on your skills, your work may include:
* Developing existing products and researching new solutions for platforms
* Research into Meta-Materials, Meta-surfaces, and Frequency Selective Surfaces, including electrical and mechanical design aspects
* Incorporating new materials and fabrication techniques based on UK research trends
* System modeling to ensure compatibility and performance
* Using EM simulation tools like CST Microwave Studio and FEKO for analysis and optimization
* Presenting findings through reports and presentations
* Providing technical guidance and promoting best practices

About You
You should have a STEM degree (Physics, Mathematics, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, etc.) and experience or education in Electromagnetics areas such as LO, Stealth, RF, Antenna design, or Computational EM. Strong problem-solving, communication skills, and the ability to understand complex topics are essential.
Desirable qualifications include:
* Master’s or PhD in related fields
* Experience with EM modeling tools like CST Microwave Studio
* Programming skills, preferably MATLAB
* Knowledge of antenna and EM materials measurement techniques
* Experience with measurement equipment (VNA, Spectrum Analyzer)
* Chartered Engineer status or membership in a professional body
* Experience managing relationships with clients and suppliers
