Position Summary: The Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing systems architecture using PLCs, SCADA software, and database technologies. This role plays a key part in delivering integrated industrial automation solutions that meet functional and customer requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Design, develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI/SCADA software Develop and manage data systems, including writing queries and integrating with databases Implement and support control systems for industrial applications including motors, sensors, and conveyance systems Support field installation, operation, and maintenance using computer-aided engineering and design tools Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects meet scope, schedule, and budget requirements Evaluate system performance, identify discrepancies, and apply corrective measures as needed Serve as the primary systems engineering resource during project start-up Collaborate with Estimating and Project Management to support cost estimation and staffing plans Participate in project meetings and maintain alignment with contractors and internal teams Adhere to all company safety standards and procedures Domestic and international travel required (approximately 20–30% annually) Other Duties and Responsibilities: Act as the lead electrical support during project installations Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment Perform additional tasks as assigned Work Environment: Work will take place in both office and job site settings. Exposure to noise, chemicals, dust, weather conditions, and other site-specific hazards may occur. Travel to both domestic and international locations is expected. Physical Demands: This position involves frequent walking, standing, use of hands, reaching, climbing, kneeling, and other physical activities. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and maintain awareness in dynamic environments. Requirements: BTEC Level 3 in General Engineering or related field required Certifications in networking or database management preferred Background in electrical engineering or related discipline required Experience with PLC programming (Rockwell and/or Siemens preferred) Familiarity with SCADA platforms; experience with Ignition preferred Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and web-based programming is a plus Strong understanding of P&ID diagrams is highly preferred Hands-on mechanical aptitude is beneficial Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office programs required Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills required Ability to manage time effectively and work independently or in teams Flexibility to work varied hours, including occasional weekends Must uphold Roeslein & Associates’ core values and contribute to a respectful, team-oriented work environment
