The School is seeking an inspirational, experienced and enthusiastic Teacher of Business and Economics to join its successful Business Department from April (or earlier, if possible).
The Business Department consists of three full-time teachers, one of whom is a Deputy Head. Pupils experience aspects of Business education from Transitus (Primary 7) through Transitus Studies and in First Year through Business Studies Education (BSE). In Second Year, pupils take part in a more directed Economics course. The department currently offers Economics at National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher levels, as well as Business Management at Higher and Advanced Higher level.
The department’s academic record is excellent. In, 97.4% of Economics candidates achieved passes at National 5 level, with 84.2% at Grade A. In Higher Economics, 96% of candidates achieved grades A-C, with 69% at Grade A, while in Higher Business Management, 89% of candidates achieved grades A-C, with 61% at Grade A. In Advanced Higher Economics, I00% of candidates achieved grades A-C, with 64% at Grade A, and 91% of Advanced Higher Business Management candidates achieved grades A-C, with 46% at Grade A.
In session -26, out of year groups of approximately one hundred pupils, 46 are studying National 5 Economics in Third Year and 53 in Fourth Year. 32 pupils are taking Higher Economics, with 38 taking Higher Business Management. At Advanced Higher, 10 pupils are taking Economics and 7 are taking Business Management.
The Role
The successful applicant will be a committed and enthusiastic Teacher of Business and Economics with high standards of professionalism, and will be expected to teach at both Higher and Advanced Higher levels. Knowledge and the ability to teach Economics to Higher level or above would be extremely desirable.
The appointment will begin on Monday 20 April. Candidates must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) and the appointment will be subject to a successful application to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
