Lime Tree Care Ltd are looking for a registered nurse to work at a specialist unit in Clowne, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. This is for 2 shifts per week, which is equal to 24 hours 30 minutes.

Lime Tree Care Ltd provides person centred care, promoting a caring environment for adults with Learning Disability, Mental Illness and Brain Injury. As a result of their diagnosis, the adults in the service can at times present with behaviours of concern. We are looking for a nurse who will be able to manage behaviours of concerns appropriately with evidence based practice as well as be responsible for ensuring the nursing care to residents is provided at a high quality, while supporting non-nursing staff to meet the resident's needs.

You would work under the supervision and direction of the deputy manager.

It is essential that you:

* Are a registered nurse with a clear and active PIN.
* Have the ability and flexibility to work weekdays, weekends and bank holidays.
* Have the ability and flexibility to work 12 hour and 15 minute shifts.
* Have the ability and flexibility to work day shifts and night shifts
* Have experience of working in mental health services, either in a hospital or residential setting.
* Have experience of managing behaviours of concern effectively using a person centred and holistic approach.
* Have a good attendance record.
* Have the ability to maintain documentation, undertake audits and demonstrate integrity in your role.
* Have the ability to develop, review and evaluate care plan documentation, ensuring that the care plan is created in collaboration with the resident to make it person centred.
* Have the ability to risk assess activities for the residents, ensuring least restrictive practice and positive risk taking are the approach being undertaken by the care team.
* Be able to effectively communicate with healthcare professionals external to the organisation to ensure that the resident is receiving a high quality of care.
* Have a good understanding of the documentation that is in place regarding the residents and their care. For example Deprivation of liberties, mental capacity assessments and best interest decisions.
* Have a good understanding of the quality standard frameworks that shape practice within nursing home settings.
* Have compassion, resilience and a dedication to empower and support service user independence.
* Be a effective leader to the care team. This will involve offering guidance and support to the HCAs, completing supervisions to staff, working with the nurse and acting as the first point of call for the care team, to make clinical assessments of the day to day running of the service.
* To be confident in their clinical skills and leadership ability to promote a nurse led service.

Duties and responsibilities include:

* Providing nursing care.
* Administering medication.
* Ordering and returning medication.
* Routine observations and record keeping.
* Providing leadership to the team and lead by example.
* Cover the rota when required in emergency.
* Initiate and review care plans.
* Complete and review residents risk assessments.
* Personal care – provide personal care to each resident according to the national care standards when required. Carry out all needs identified in the residents individual care plan. Ensuring independence is promoted whenever possible.
* Use moving and handling equipment correctly and support with moving and handling techniques, in accordance with the moving and handling policy. Support residents with using equipment correctly to support independence.
* Report all concerns and findings to management, both verbally and written. Deal with issues when appropriate.
* Choices, dignity and respect is promoted.
* Utilise good time management skills
* Escort and assist residents where appropriate.
* Assist with serving food at meal times and assisting with feeding residents when required.
* Communicating with the community, other professionals, friends and family of the resident. This must be correctly documented in the residents paperwork.
* Equipment must be used correctly, report faulty equipment to manager that day. Label all faulty equipment.
* Fire procedure to be carried out appropriately.
* Identify and ensure all health and safety standards are met.
* Ensure that specific clinical skills training is up to date and if this is not the case, communicate with the management team to ensure that training is provided. These skills include but are not exclusive to catheter care and syringe driver care.
* For the nurse to use their clinical judgement when a resident is deteriorating in their health and respond appropriately to ensure the safety of the resident .

Benefits

* Competitive hourly rate of £21.00 an hour. Any further shifts picked up over contracted hours will be increased by £3.50 an hour.
