Gardener Location: Brighton Salary: £26,458 - £27,800 per annum (Dependant on experience) Vacancy Type: Permanent, Full Time Job Summary Brighton College are seeking to appoint a Gardener on a full-time, permanent basis. Main Purpose of the Role: The Gardener will assist the Gardens Team in providing a beautiful environment for pupils and staff to enjoy. The Garden Team is responsible for maintaining and developing the three school sites as well as residential properties. The successful candidate will be passionate and motivated in their work and able to work confidently alone and within a team. General Duties and Responsibilities Lawn care Tree and shrub maintenance Monitoring the health of all plants and greenspaces Maintain herbaceous & mixed borders Weeding, feeding and irrigation Person Specifications The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas: Experience working in a similar environment A valid driving license A love of working outdoors Experience using a wide range of horticultural machinery and powered hand tools Strong manual skills Creativity and an eye for detail Interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team Experience of identifying pests and diseases Eagerness to learn and improve Desirable Experience working at a high-profile garden RHS level 2 or equivalent qualification Hours of Work You will be required to work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday inclusive 7:45am 4:15pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break. Occasional weekend work will be required to support College Open Mornings and Events in which time in lieu will be given. Remuneration The salary for this role will be £26,458 - £27,800 per annum dependant on experience. Holidays 23 days, plus bank holidays increasing to 28 days plus bank holidays after 2 years of service.
