The Senior Support Worker role at Enable in Erith is a rewarding, permanent position where the successful candidate will make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals needing short-term support. The role requires both hands‑on support and leadership or administrative responsibilities, ensuring the respite service operates smoothly. You will support three female individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism, adapting quickly to individual support plans to create a positive experience. The role is full-time, combining shift‑based support with leadership duties, maintaining high standards of care, and supporting colleagues within the respite service.


Main duties of the job

Enable is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Support Worker for our respite service in Erith, Kent. This role involves overseeing and delivering high‑quality, short‑term support that provides essential breaks for families and primary carers. You’ll report to the Registered Manager, dividing your time between hands‑on support and administrative duties, ensuring person‑centred care. You’ll support three female individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism, focusing on continuity of care and positive experiences. Job responsibilities

Reporting to the Registered Manager, you’ll divide your time between hands‑on support and leadership or administrative responsibilities, ensuring the service runs smoothly and consistently delivers safe, person‑centred care. This is a varied and rewarding role where your input directly supports both the people using the service and their wider support networks.

About the people you’ll be supporting: You’ll be supporting three female individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism who access the service for short stays. Each person has their own needs, preferences, and routines, which may differ from their home environment. Some may enjoy active outings in the community, while others prefer calm, home‑based activities during their stay. Your role is to create a welcoming, structured, and reassuring environment where they feel safe, respected, and able to enjoy their time away from home.

You’ll focus on maintaining continuity of care, adapting quickly to individual support plans, and ensuring each stay is a positive and meaningful experience. At the same time, you’ll be contributing to providing families and carers with confidence and peace of mind while they take a well‑earned break.

Where you’ll be working: Based in Erith, Kent, this full‑time role combines shift‑based support with dedicated time for leadership and administrative duties. You’ll play a key role in maintaining high standards of care, supporting colleagues, and ensuring the respite service operates effectively and responsively.

What is required from you?

A minimum of 12 months on your right to work

Full UK Drivers licence

Level 2 in Health and Social Care and willing to work towards Level 3

Encouraging people to play active roles in the communities in which they live, to encourage independence.

Supporting Activities of daily living including social activities, personal care, routines, planning and preparation of meals and budgeting.

Communicating effectively using people’s chosen methods

Engaging – promoting and motivating people we support to enhance their quality of life

Specialising – supporting people who may need positive behavioural support approaches

Recording – keeping accurate records & reporting changes in health or circumstances of service users to management

Team player – working as part of a team, as well as being able to work using your own initiative.

Qualifications
