Join our Facilities Team – Part-Time Opportunity
We are looking for a reliable and proactive Maintenance Assistant to support the day-to-day upkeep of our school site. This part-time role is an important part of our wider estates team, helping to ensure a safe, secure, and well-maintained environment for children, staff, and visitors.
Reporting to the Estates Manager, this role will work closely with a small team that work collaboratively to get the job done.
Working Hours & Salary
This is a part-time position, offering 32 hours per week. We can offer flexibility for the right candidate—these hours could be spread across five shorter days or condensed into fewer longer shifts.
The salary for this role is £20,927 per annum. The role includes 5.6 weeks of paid holiday (including bank holidays), pro rata.

You may have experience in a particular trade, a multi-skilled background, or developed practical knowledge through personal projects. Most important is a can-do attitude, flexibility, and a willingness to help keep the school operating smoothly.
Typical Responsibilities
Maintenance tasks may include:
* General repairs across areas such as carpentry, basic plumbing, and minor electrical work
* Responding to jobs logged via the site's maintenance request system
* Painting and decorating internal and external areas
* Assembly and set-up of furniture or equipment
* Routine maintenance such as unblocking drains, clearing gutters, and inspecting fixtures
* Assisting colleagues with larger or shared tasks
* Moving furniture, stock, or equipment across the school site
* Managing deliveries and collecting materials for jobs
* Unlocking and securing buildings
* Managing site alarms and basic security duties
* Escorting contractors and granting building access
* Reporting issues to the Estates Manager
* Supporting school events (e.g. car parking, signage, tidiness)
* Helping with setup for lettings and school activities
* Assisting with any other duties as reasonably required by the Estates Manager, Bursar or Head
Health & Safety and Training
All estates staff play an active role in upholding the school's health and safety standards. This includes:
* Understanding and following all relevant school policies, risk assessments, and procedures
* Complying with COSHH regulations when handling materials
* Attending role-specific training, including safeguarding and data protection
* Completing all required statutory and internal training
