The Opportunity:
Due to increasing workload, we are seeking experienced Principal Mechanical Design Engineers to contribute across the full product lifecycle—from early mechanical concepts and detailed design through to qualification, production, and in-service support.
You will lead the development of innovative mechanical solutions for complex Defence systems, working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary engineering teams. This is a high-impact role offering strong opportunities for professional development and career progression.
What We're Looking For:
* A Degree, HND, or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, plus significant design experience
* Proven ability to lead mechanical design work packages and effectively collaborate in multi-disciplinary environments
* Familiarity with product qualification and compliance processes
* Experience applying robust design methodologies (e.g. DFMEA, DFA, DFM)
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate across functions
* Strong experience working with suppliers and cross-functional teams
* Adaptability to different working cultures and environments
* A calm, professional attitude with good prioritisation and problem-solving skills
* Knowledge of structural, thermal, or dynamic analysis is beneficial
* Experience with 3D CAD/CAE tools (training on preferred platforms will be provided)
Note: This role may require occasional travel within the UK and potentially to sites in Europe.
