SCOTTISH GENOMICS NETWORK LABORATORY

Applications are invited for the post of a full-time (36 hours per week), Band 3, Healthcare Science Support Worker Higher Level, in the Aberdeen Genetics and Molecular Pathology Laboratory, a UKAS accredited member laboratory of the Scottish Genomics Network, funded by the National Services Division.
Key Responsibilities
* Sample reception including handling, receipt and dispatch of a range of patient samples.
* Data entry into laboratory databases.
* Provide general administrative support and perform basic laboratory duties.
* Deal with telephone queries from users.
Qualifications and Experience
* Education/experience to Vocational Level 3 or equivalent knowledge.
* Knowledge of routine and non-routine healthcare science duties.
* Proficiency in computer and keyboard skills; experience with computer databases, patient registers and hospital record systems.
* Good communication and telephone skills; ability to demonstrate attention to detail.
* Willingness to learn new procedures and protocols.
Working Hours and Shift Pattern
Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm.
Additional Information for Candidates
Please note this is a laboratory-based post, not a patient-facing role. The post-holder will work closely with technologists and scientists in the department.
