Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Family Support Worker to join a local authority within the Children’s Services team. This role involves providing support and interventions to children and young people, working closely with families to improve stability and prevent the need for children to enter care.
Overview:
The postholder will deliver crisis interventions and targeted support to families, using evidence-based approaches to build problem-solving skills, promote safety and improve family life. The role requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends, ensuring families receive support when they need it most.
Main Duties:
* Work intensively with families to provide crisis intervention and support children to remain at home where safe to do so
* Align interventions with statutory services and contribute to child protection meetings and court directions
* Capture and prioritise the voice of the child in all planning and decision making
* Support families through continuity of interventions during statutory assessment processes
* Ensure accurate and timely recording of interventions in line with policies and procedures
* Maintain professional development and apply evidence-based practices to support families effectively
Essential Criteria:
* Relevant childcare qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3, NNEB, BTech, or equivalent)
* Significant experience of working with children and families
* Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, including mental health issues
* Knowledge of the legislative and policy framework within children’s services
* Excellent communication skills with children, families and professionals
* Ability to produce clear, accurate reports and records
* Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
