Context:
This post is for head chef/trainer to work with our team at Nourish Hub NE CIC's Community kitchen and training facility,
County Durham. The worker will be expected to support our team to achieve the companies clearly described
outcomes around education, inclusion, enablement, nutritional eating, and well-being as well as financial
inclusion, food poverty and food insecurity.
OVERVIEW OF THE POST:
Preparing and cooking food to a high standard for our meals on wheels customers, school holiday free meals and
walk in takeaway service, along with general cleaning and washing up duties.
The post will also involve supporting volunteers and adults with additional needs, gain new skills in a kitchen
environment.
REPORTING TO:
Nourish Hub CIC directors.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure food preparation premises, facilities and equipment comply with relevant food Hygiene, and Health and Safety requirements.
Prep and cook, utilising food surplus, a holiday takeaway menu for children to access free of charge as
well as a free of charge or donation basis meal for vulnerable adults.
To prep, cook and pack for lunchtime delivery a meals on wheels 3 course meal.
To train volunteers and adults with additional needs participating in food-based activities.
Promote Nourish Hub NE CIC to local schools and community groups to extend use and promote
healthier eating.
To monitor and assist in evaluating all of Nourish Hub NE CIC's food related activities.
NOTES:

1. Hours 8am – 6pm and may include weekends.
2. We would require the worker to have previous, training, cooking and baking experience as well as an up-to-date food hygiene qualification.
3. Good customer service skills are essential to this role.
4. A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.
5. The post is subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (the cost of this will be
met by the employer).
1. This post is subject to a 4-week probationary period.
2. Holiday entitlement will be discussed upon offer of employment.

Pay: £20,514.00 per year
