We’re looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will work in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same.
You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, coordinating a team to deliver a clean and full store that exceeds customer expectations.
As the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will be constantly looking for ways to improve service in your store through on-the-job coaching and feedback.
You will have a great understanding of how your store is performing and be the specialist in delivering practical actions for its improvement by taking a hands-on approach.
With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.
Responsibilities include:
* Coordinate the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community
* Open/close the store and complete duty cover, making decisions for customers, colleagues, and safety
* Support the Store Manager in seasonal, community, and charity events
* Ensure the store is clean, tidy, and well-presented
* Prioritize replenishment of products important to customers
* Ensure POS and shelf labels reflect standards
* Take immediate action for overcharges and prevent reoccurrence
* Manage queues proactively for a great shopping experience
* Coordinate colleagues to meet priorities and manage breaks
* Follow health and safety routines and ensure team compliance
* Communicate effectively with the team
* Identify operational improvements and share ideas with the Store Manager
* Always put the customer first and tailor service to their needs
* Resolve customer queries promptly and leave them satisfied
* Recognize colleagues providing excellent service
* Address obstacles to service delivery
* Handle colleague queries in the absence of the Store Manager or escalate as needed
* Ensure appropriate staffing and cover short-term absences
* Act as Keyholder and respond to alarm calls
* Monitor internal communications and ensure team is informed
* Support store operations and feedback issues to the Store Manager
* Balance time across service and replenishment areas
* Assist in managing employee absence and conduct return-to-work interviews
* Build relationships with Area Manager & People Partner, escalate issues, seek coaching
* If applicable, manage Post Office operations, including background checks.
