Tram Operations Limited (TOL), a subsidiary of FirstGroup, operates the London Trams service for Transport for London (TfL). The tram network includes 39 tramstops, providing inter-urban, cross-borough services in Southwest London, connecting Wimbledon, New Addington, Beckenham Junction, Elmers End, and Croydon.
London Trams offers excellent connectivity with 7 National Rail stations, such as East Croydon, Wimbledon, Elmers End, and Beckenham Junction, and connects with numerous bus routes.

About the job
We are pleased to offer multiple Trainee Tram Driver positions. The role involves a roster covering a 24-hour schedule, 7 days a week, year-round.
This is the beginning of an exciting journey to become a Tram Driver. As a trainee, you will spend up to 16 weeks learning rules, gaining knowledge, and driving trams.
The role involves various challenges beyond driving, including delivering outstanding customer service and acting as an ambassador for the company. You must proactively manage disruptions and emergencies, communicate effectively with passengers via announcements, and adhere strictly to safety protocols, recognizing hazards and following rules diligently.
Due to our Fatigue Monitoring System, candidates must live within close proximity to the Croydon depot, within one hour by car or public transport.
Our tram operations run 24 hours, with shifts starting as early as 04:00, ending as late as 02:00, including night shifts for tram preparation.
Salary: During training (16 weeks): £28,550; Post-training: £40,132; One year after training completion: £52,376.
Minimum requirements include:
* The ability to work under pressure
* Experience with rules & procedures
* Flexibility for shift work and unsocial hours
* A customer-focused approach
* Travel ability to Croydon depot within one hour
* A current, full UK driving licence with no more than three points
* Three GCSEs A-C or equivalent
All successful candidates will undergo a DBS check before employment.
