Oliver Bernard are working with a product-led AdTech startup that’s backed by multiple unicorn founders and top-tier VCs. The company is at an exciting stage, with real traction, strong commercial backing, and a clear vision for how technology will drive revenue and customer value.
They’re looking for an Engineering Lead to take ownership of the technical direction of the business and act as the senior engineering voice across the company.
This is a hands-on leadership position. You’ll be building and evolving scalable systems in a full-stack TypeScript environment while also leading a small, high-impact team of three full-stack product engineers. You’ll be expected to mentor, set standards, and create a culture of quality and ownership, while still spending a significant amount of time writing and reviewing code yourself.
The ideal person will have strong experience in early-stage startups and is comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments. You may have previously worked as a Founding Engineer, Engineering Lead, or CTO, and ex-founders or co-founders would also be well suited to this role. What’s critical is the ability to think beyond pure technical innovation and focus on building the right product — prioritising customer value, revenue generation, and measurable business outcomes.
From a technology perspective, the team works across TypeScript, Node/Nest.js, React, GCP, PostgreSQL, and Python. You don’t need to be an expert in everything, but you should be confident leading technical decisions across the stack and evolving it as the company grows.
This is a hybrid role based in Central London, with the team working from the office three days per week. In return, the company offers a competitive salary of £110,000–£150,000, alongside generous equity and the opportunity to have real influence in a high-growth, well-funded startup.
