Mirion Technologies (IST) design and manufacture a range of CCTV and imaging systems for the inspection, surveillance, and monitoring of numerous applications within industries such as Nuclear (power plants, reprocessing and decommissioning), Cement, Pulp and Paper, Power Generation (gas, coal and oil), Steel, Glass, Petrochemical and Waste Incineration.
The Role
We are seeking a talented and experienced engineer to join our Projects & Design team to provide electro-mechanical design and development from concept through to production. You will be creating electronic design solutions from scratch and incorporating off the shelf products where applicable for cameras and imaging systems used within hazardous environments such as nuclear and high temperature industrial applications.
This role requires a professional with extensive experience in Electronics engineering, a strong technical background, and the ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering innovative solutions, managing complex projects, and driving continuous improvement in engineering processes.
This is a full time position based in Farnborough and belongs to the Technologies Group (EMEA/APAC) reporting to the Projects & Design Manager.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of a Senior Electronic Engineer include, but are not limited to:
* Electronic design and integration with other design specialities, such as mechanical design and software development
* Creating circuit topologies and schematics
* Leading Product and Project design stages from concept to deployment.
* Design and implementation of test rigs for design verification and functional testing
* Conducting design evaluations, verifications and proving trials, such as radiation trials
* Generating reports, test specifications and verification procedures, manuals, and master data within the ERP system (Item data, BOMs, Routes)
* Participation in Design reviews with internal and external customers
* Design for manufacture ensuring products are safe, reliable, and meet required industry standards
* Supporting the Technical Construction File creation for product compliance verification
* Uphold the Company’s core values of Integrity, Commitment, Accountability, Respect and Exploration
Other Responsibilities
* Creating PCB layouts and drawings
* Incorporating Design Change Requests and performing robust Root Cause Analysis and Lessons Learned
* Liaison with subcontract manufacturers and Quality Assurance providers for design support or certification and qualification purposes
* Providing technical support and fault diagnosis for internal customers, such as production, test departments and procurement
* Providing technical support for Sales and the Service team relating to product applications, customer enquiries and fault diagnosis
* Support staff training for succession planning and reduction of any single point failures
* Participation in continuous improvement initiatives as necessary
The Person
The key skills and qualities of a Senior Electronic Engineer are:
* Qualified to a minimum degree level in relevant field (or equivalent experience)
* Strong and demonstrable electronics design and development skills, microprocessor integration, and analogue circuit design
* Experience in High speed, Multilayer PCB design
* Experience in Microcontroller and FPGA circuits and modules
* Knowledge of PCBA fabrication process
* Experience using Spice Simulation and related EDA software
* Strong and demonstrable ability in fault diagnosis
* Good and demonstrable knowledge of safety compliance
* Excellent communication skills, time management and organisational skills
* Ability to review and work with stakeholders to prioritise workload of self and the electrical team
* 10 years + experience
* PCB layout CAD skills
* Analogue signal processing and Video
* Experience with Digital Video protocols
* Good and demonstrable knowledge of EMC Compliance
* Knowledge about radiation tolerant /Radiation hardened components and systems
* Experience and familiarity with EMC testing equipment and setup
* Experience of conducting hardware qualification testing
* Experience of preparing cost sheets for Sales Enquires
* Experience in Nuclear and High temperature applications
* Experience of working on New Product and Development Introductions
